The Renmin University of China often referred to as RUC, or colloquially Renda(Chinese: 人大; pinyin: Réndà), is a research university located in Haidian District of Beijing.

RUC is classified as a Class A university under the Double First-Class University Plan and is generally considered one of the country's premier universities.

The Renmin University of China is a research-oriented comprehensive university focusing on humanities, and social sciences are directly under the Ministry of Education of China. They are jointly financed and supported by China’s Ministry of Education and the Beijing Municipal government. It can be traced back to Shanbei Public School, founded in 1937 in the midst of the Anti-Japanese War.

Today, RUC is recognised for its strengths in humanities and social sciences, although it also offers programmes in natural sciences, information technology and environmental sciences. 

The university comprises 26 schools and serves a total of around 25,000 students and 3,500 faculty members. It offers 75 undergraduate majors, four second-bachelor degrees, 124 doctoral programmes, 183 master’s programmes, nine interdisciplinary majors and 20 professional degrees. Around 4.5 million volumes are held by the university library, along with close to 20,000 e-books.
