The M.A. program teaches students’ comparative and systemic political/legal, economic, sociocultural, psychological, historical, technological and theoretical approaches to the globalization of communication through both legacy and digital media.
This program prepares its graduates for careers in a wide variety of locations and fields such as international journalism; multinational media and other corporations, including entertainment; international public relations and marketing/advertising for corporations, NGOs or governments, including health; public and other types of diplomacy; education; and other sites of globalization.
You will study at the School of Journalism and Communication, Shanghai International Studies University, one of the pioneers in global journalism teaching, global media practices and studies on global communication as well as global advertising and marketing practices in China.
The program offers a master’s degree in Global Communication. It also prepares students for doctoral programs in media (including publishing), international relations, international or intercultural communication and other areas. Skills emphasized include cross-cultural communication, critical and creative thinking, research and writing, innovation, public relations, and others.
