Introduction
The School of Chemistry has a group of professors with international vision and high academic reputation as well as competitive young researchers. Over decades of development, with the support of excellent talents and high-level academic platforms, the School of Chemistry has formed several distinctive subjects. Polyoxometalates as the featured subject of Inorganic Chemistry discipline makes NENU an indispensable research base for polyoxometalate chemistry and one of the most important institutions for international polyoxometalate research in China. The major of physical chemistry focuses on the research of functional material research, especially lithium ion battery material, and has achieved remarkable advances in lithium battery development including patent application. They are actively collaborating with companies for commercialization. The organic chemistry research features in heterocycle synthesis. The outstanding research in this field has yielded a series of high impact research papers on internationally prestigious journals. Some researchers were invited by top review journals such as “Chemical Reviews” to introduce their achievements.
With the improvement in academic performance and talent education quality, expanding of international cooperation, the School of Chemistry is gaining ever increasing reputation and influence. Its global ESI ranking has been in top 1% for many years, and is approaching top 0.1%. The number of citations per article ranks national top 5. In 2013-2015, many members of the School of Chemistry appeared on the list of “the most cited scientists”. Professor En-Bo Wang was awarded the “National Natural Science Award (Second Class)” in 2014. Professor Qun Liu was highlighted in Angew. Chem. “Author Profile” as a highly productive and influential scientist in 2015.
In 2010, with the support of Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of Ministry of Education and China Scholarship Council, NENU opened the Master Degree English-taught Program at the School of Chemistry and added the Doctoral Degree English-taught Program in 2014.
